Team Shepherd

February Coach Update

Team Shepherd has had a tough start to 2018, but they are strong and thriving! After Brailee’s early arrival, Team Shepherd has had to make some adjustments to their everyday life, as well as their goals for the Savings Race. One of their goals was to create a sinking fund that would cover 4 months of daycare expenses for both of their girls. However, they are being told that Brailee doesn’t need to go to daycare right away, so they have shifted the money from that sinking fund to paying off debt. Since the start of the race, Team Shepherd has paid off more than $10,000 in debt!

They have been able to maintain their emergency fund and have also been continuing to stick to a budget. One of the most important lessons they have learned is that a budget is not static – it changes from month to month. It becomes less daunting to “stick to the budget” when a budget can be adjusted based on your needs for the month or season! Although walking through a difficult season like this might cause others to lose sight of the importance of financial wellness, Team Shepherd has maintained focus and are continuing to work towards achieving their goals!
